How do you rate the usability and functionality of different protocols such as DALI, Zigbee or Lutron?
There are different lighting control protocols on the modern market, but each of them has its own features and principles of application. DALI is a very convenient and functional protocol. The main advantages: support for addresses, groups, scenes, presence and light sensors, dimming capability, compatibility of equipment from different manufacturers, reliability, not afraid of interference, free topology.
Wireless protocols are used only for small installations where it is necessary to avoid laying additional control cables. Contraindications: architecture with thick walls, columns, arches, vaults, high-ranking officials nearby (they periodically jam wireless networks). Lutron – Offers functional solutions for lighting control in combination with very high-quality curtain control.
If dynamic lighting control is required, we use the DMX512 protocol. It is a fast and functional protocol, but has its own features: fear of flooding, requires splitters and signal amplifiers, use of special control cables.

How do lighting control technologies affect the energy efficiency of your projects?
The use of lighting control systems enables significant savings on energy consumption. The payback period of the system and further cost savings depend on the functionality and cost of the system used.
Such systems allow you to turn on and off the lighting in the room depending on the presence of people, as well as dimmable artificial lighting depending on the level of natural lighting.
So we have an effect where the light is only turned on in the presence of people, and not at full power, but at the level necessary to maintain the required level of lighting. When there are no people in the room, the light turns off automatically. This saves electricity.
Also, in large facilities where there are no sensors, we apply a schedule function where after the working day is sent an additional command to turn off the lighting in case some of the rooms did not go out with the lights.
