Project details
Ostrov is an innovative quarter in the western part of the capital. This prestigious residential complex is located in the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain and it is one of the largest projects in the capital. The Ostrov area has the highest environmental rating.
The main architectural concept is to create a diverse environment. Each building has a different architecture, but they are united by a unified concept. The image of the 3rd quarter complex is inspired by an urban estate, characterized by classical approaches. This image is achieved through the use of a regular rhythmic facade grid, a colonnade, and the prominence of the attic floor.
Lighting in the main part of the building make accents on the key architectural elements—pilasters with decorative relief. They create rhythm and define the building's vertical lines. The lower tier is brightly lit, making the space comfortable, safe, and inviting. Square ceiling lights provide uniform illumination of the extended portico, creating comfortable conditions for walking in the dark. The colonnade is additionally illuminated by wall-mounted navigation lights with elliptical optics, preventing glare and creating the desired level of illumination on the horizontal surface. Warm lighting in the niches above the windows of the upper floors completes the architectural composition, highlighting the complex architecture and creating a cohesive overall image.
The lighting solution for the residential complex's courtyard differs from the exterior. The building's facade has no architectural lighting. Only the lower level of the building is illuminated. Here, special attention is paid to landscape lighting, creating a cozy and intimate evening lighting environment in accordance with human scale.
During the day, the lighting fixtures on the facade are almost invisible, because they correspond the facade's color. The lighting is seamlessly integrated into the facade system and doesn't distract from the view during the day, allowing the architecture to take center stage.
Special attention was paid to the aesthetics of perception of the residential complex during the day. The light fixtures are almost invisible, they merge with the color of the facade. This solution allows to harmoniously integrate lighting in the architecture, without disturbing the visual integrity.
All lighting fixtures in the project are dimmable. This technical feature allows to create lighting scenarios. For the project was designed two main scenarios: all fixtures operate at 100% until 11:00 PM. After this time, the upper tier is dimmed to 50%, while the lower tier remains 100%. This solution helps maintain the architectural integrity at night, reduce energy costs, and minimize the negative impact of light on residents.
A facade lighting control system improves the reliability, safety, and ease of operation of lighting equipment. Lighting control reduces maintenance costs and lowers energy bills.
