Celebrating two victories!

On September 18, Athens hosted the International Architecture Awards 2026 ceremony. The new Kamala Theatre in Kazan, designed by Wowhaus in collaboration with Kengo Kuma & Associates, became a laureate of the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design award in the “Museums and Cultural Centers” category.

And there is more good news: the project has been included in the annual review “Best Facades of 2026”, which takes place as part of the Congress of Facade Architecture. The Kamala Theatre was recognized among the top six projects of the year (https://buildingskin.info/congress/best-facades.php) for its facade made of triangular glass and aluminum panels, inspired by the “ice flowers” on Lake Kaban.

Two awards represent two different perspectives on the same architecture: the international jury praised the theatre as a cultural building, while the professional facade review recognized its architectural envelope and innovative use of materials.
