Lighting design solution for a business-class residential complex on the banks of the Yauza River
Project details
The project concept is based on the idea of highlighting the distinctive features of the MYPRIORITY Basmanny residential complex, located in the capital's historic district. The residential complex is located on the banks of the Yauza River, next to Bauman Moscow State Technical University, surrounded by architectural monuments and ancient manor parks. Basmanny is one of the oldest districts in Moscow, dating back to the 14th century. The district boasts a diverse architecture, featuring classical merchant mansions, industrial architecture, constructivist buildings, and Soviet-era heritage.
For example, the event area is illuminated by string lights resembling festive garlands. They create a special atmosphere and festive mood while providing necessary level of illumination. A semicircular pavilion complements the festive mood created by the garlands in the evening, thanks to lighting fixtures mounted on vertical supports. This area gains additional volume because the luminaries are bidirectional, illuminating the entire supports. Light is also reflected off the roof and seating surfaces. In the summer, a dry fountain with RGB lighting will be the focal point of the courtyard, delighting residents in the evenings.
Lighting fixtures throughout the area vary in height and purpose. For play areas and playgrounds, 8-meter poles are used to provide the required level of illumination and uniformity. In recreation areas, the fixtures serve a more decorative function, resembling home floor lamps of varying heights arranged in groups.
For the residential complex's courtyard, it was important to develop a lighting design solution that would be as comfortable as possible and would not disturb residents. Glare and light spilling into windows are excluded by directing the light from the luminaires downwards or by limiting the light beam to the surfaces of small architectural features, thus minimizing light pollution and skylight glare.
The swings, installed in the arches and beloved by children and adults, have become a signature feature of the residential complex. In the evening, they will attract residents' attention thanks to the illuminated interior of the arches. The soft light will highlight the architectural features and create a striking frame for each swing.
A unique cylindrical piece of art, composed of the letters of the residential complex's name, has been installed in the apple orchard. Illuminated from within, it creates a distinctive pattern of light and shadow around itself. The carefully proportioned combination of light and shadow has created a cozy and safe lighting environment within the complex. Lighting solutions have been carefully designed for each zone, ensuring optimal lighting conditions for a comfortable perception of the space.
The lighting concept for the residential complex's interior spaces is designed to create a cozy and pleasant atmosphere where everyone feels at home. In the evening, the courtyard transforms into a cozy spot where children and adults alike can enjoy spending time outdoors.
