An article about the architectural lighting design solution for the Khamovniki 12 residential complex in the historic center of Moscow. Architectural lighting for this project was designed by QPRO specialists.<\/p>\n
The residential complex is a contemporary clubhouse in the neoclassical style. Architect Evgeny Gerasimov was inspired by the legacy of Andrea Palladio, one of the most influential Renaissance artists.<\/p>\n

Lighting solutions for this premium residential complex were developed considering the building’s architectural features, its status, its aesthetics image at night, and the ultimate comfort of its residents in mind.<\/p>\n
The clubhouse is divided horizontally into tiers by cornices. At night, these tiers are revealed by lighting. The building features a variety of decorative elements reminiscent of the neoclassical style: finials, columns, pilasters, vases, a coat of arms, and ornaments on the facade. These elements help to create a cohesive architectural image. Therefore, it was important for the lighting designers to use light to highlight not only the main large-scale features of the building, but also to place emphasis on decorative elements. For a neoclassical residential complex, it was crucial to maintain a balance of light and shadow\u2014not oversaturating the facade with light, highlighting the architectural features, emphasizing the facade’s plasticity, and highlighting decorative elements that carry architectural significance.<\/p>\n
