Project details
The new office was created in connection with the expansion of DKC - a leader in the production of engineering electrical equipment in Russia. It is located in the building on the territory of the factory Bolshevik of 1884 construction (the building itself dates from the middle of the 20th century). It was important to emphasize the company’s corporate style in the interior, reflect its values - honesty, desire for development, humanity.
The office is designed to accommodate 200 employees. There are fixed and non-fixed workplaces (about 10%). The main task of the architects was to preserve the feeling of space and light. Special attention was paid to the location of workstations and the convenience of employees.
For the DKC office, the architects developed special solutions based on the customer's products. In addition to the decorative function, these structures also perform functional tasks. For example, linear tubular luminaries are mounted on suspended metal trays in the entrance area of the common space on the 1st floor. The reception area with functional and decorative lighting, where a round tubular lamp is located, looks original. In the rectangular double-height atrium, which houses the corporate meeting area, custom-made horizontal tubular luminaries are used. They pass through the existing open structural elements of the building, making this interior even more interesting.
The authors combine straight geometric lines and rough finish material with softer rounded forms and color accents in the interior of the office, which helps to form a balance both in architecture and in the perception of space.
Of the original architectural solutions, it is worth noting the individual meeting rooms of the 1st floor. These rooms have a cylindrical shape. For non-standard shaped spaces, functional lighting is realized by means of suspended linear luminaires with curtains, which allow directing light to the table area.
In common spaces and corridors of the work area, rotating spotlights on track systems are used, placed in accordance with the geometry and architecture of the space. The track system on suspensions allows for the placement of lighting fixtures at the desired height, and also does not visually overload the ceiling with open communications. Due to a certain step of spotlight placement, the filling of the space with light is regulated, and local accents are created, minimizing the visual monotony of the space.
Special attention was paid to the organization of workplaces. A linear pendant luminaire with wide optics corresponding to the length of the table is placed above each zone for two workstations forming a single line. Professional optics does not give glare, providing visual comfort at a normalized level of illumination. Linear pendant luminaires harmonize with suspended shelves, visually forming a single set of interior elements, matching the design solutions. Mobile workstations located along the windows of the working area are illuminated by rotating track spotlights providing general illumination. In order to create comfortable and functional lighting at these workstations, they were equipped with personal desk lamps that employees can use when necessary.
The meeting rooms, gym and cafe are illuminated by rectangular pendant systems with wide optics. Built-in luminaries are also provided for the meeting rooms, allowing for uniform lighting throughout the space, including in the corners. Thanks to the presence of light groups, it is easy and convenient to regulate the lighting and change it depending on the situation (active discussion, quiet conversation, etc.).
The color scheme of the luminaries corresponds to the colors used in the main interior decoration (white, gray, red). Thus, they dissolve into the surrounding space without distracting attention, but at the same time acting as elements of design solutions. The project also uses decorative techniques. For example, the cold light illumination of the transparent reception desk highlights this area, making it look like a sparkling ice floe. In the sanitary area, thin suspended red cylinders not only provide functional lighting for the sinks, but also become a decoration against the rough concrete walls.
Another original element is the lamp above the reception on the 3rd floor. It is assembled from cable trays, based on which the office racks on suspensions were made. On the lower tier of this lamp there is a light source repeating the oval shape of the structure. Diffuse light illuminates the reception area itself, and also marks the middle tier, passing through the perforation, thus conveying the volume of the original object.
Lighting in the DKC office not only meets lighting standards, providing comfortable conditions for work and rest, but also meets the design solutions of the interior, helping to maintain the lightness and cleanliness of the space.
