Project details

Architects revived an unfavorable but promising site near the Prospekt Vernadskogo metro station by locating the Academic business center there. A well-thought-out functional program, technological innovations, and special attention to the building's identity successfully addressed all challenges.
The building is a single complex consisting of several different functional zones, combining in its image modern European architecture, functionalism, the monumental appearance of the area and elements of the natural landscape.

LIGHTING
The main fourteen-story building is designed as a lens-shaped plan. The vertical aluminum slats, which extend fragmentarily onto the stylobate, lend a lightness to the high-rise volume, visually unifying the building's sections.
The portrait of the great scientist appears on the facade through the varying cross-sections of the slats and is clearly visible to motorists and pedestrians on the opposite side of the avenue. The landscaping of the pedestrian street along the main facade also features the image of Vladimir Vernadsky, or rather, his glasses, which become an art object and an element of the space's identity, linked to the building itself.

A lighting design solution tailored to the needs of a modern business building was developed for the indoor public space of the Academic Business Center. Functional lighting ensures comfortable and safe movement within the space and also highlights sophisticated design features. Compact lighting fixtures mounted on the copper slat ceiling are virtually invisible during the day, while at night they provide uniform illumination across the horizontal floor surface.

Decorative lighting is also provided for common areas. Light lines frame the elevator entrances. Evenly illuminated vertical lines, running from floor to ceiling, create rhythm and dynamism in the space, supporting the architectural design. The reflective properties of the finishing material create unique lighting effects on the ceiling. This light pattern draws attention to the ceiling's design, imbuing it with volume and depth. In addition to their decorative function, the fixtures also serve a functional purpose, providing additional illumination to the vertical wall surfaces.
RGB lighting is used for decorative elements. It helps to create a festive atmosphere, unique spatial images, and highlight architectural features.
At night, the public space's main art objects—the enormous chrome chairs with the three-dimensional face of V. I. Vernadsky—are additionally illuminated. Miniature floor luminaries highlight the objects' volume, dramatically reflecting off the chrome surface.

The selected color temperature and high color rendering index allow for a visually accurate presentation of interior color schemes and the characteristics of used materials, creating a dynamic business building environment, and conveying the atmosphere of functional, modern European architecture.
